The math track at Pyramid Academy is designed to inspire our students with content from the Art of Problem Solving series to enrich computational thinking and to encourage students to realize its real-world applications.

Pre-Algebra

Pre-algebra prepares students for the rigors of algebra and also teaches students problem-solving techniques.  Topics include the properties of arithmetic, exponents, primes and divisors, fractions, equations and inequalities, decimals, ratios and proportions, unit conversions and rates, percent, square roots, basic geometry (angles, perimeter, area, triangles, and quadrilaterals), statistics, counting and probability, and more! ​To order the text book, click on the picture above.

Intro to Counting and Probability

​Learn the basics of counting and probability. Topics include permutations, combinations, Pascal's Triangle, basic combinatorial identities, expected value, fundamentals of probability, geometric probability, the Binomial Theorem, and much more.

Intro to Geometry

​A full course in challenging geometry for students in grades 7-10, including topics such as similar triangles, congruent triangles, quadrilaterals, polygons, circles, funky areas, power of a point, three-dimensional geometry, transformations, introductory trigonometry, and more.

MS MathCounts/AMC8

(6
th grade and up)

This is an intermediate level middle school math competition class targeted for students with some MathCounts experience and  aiming to get to state level MathCounts competition and improve their scores on  AMC8

Intro to Algebra

Learn the basics of Algebra, this class covers linear equations, ratios, quadratic equations, special factorizations, complex numbers, graphing linear and quadratic equations, linear and quadratic inequalities, functions, polynomials, exponents and logarithms, absolute value, sequences and series, and much more!  To order the text book, click on the picture above.

Intermediate Counting and Probability

An intermediate textbook in counting and probability for students in grades 9-12. Topics include inclusion-exclusion, 1-1 correspondences, the Pigeonhole Principle, constructive expectation, Fibonacci and Catalan numbers, recursion, conditional probability, generating functions, graph theory, and much more.

Pre-Calculus

​Precalculus covers trigonometry, complex numbers, vectors, and matrices. It includes nearly 1000 problems, ranging from routine exercises to extremely challenging problems drawn from major mathematics competitions such as the American Invitational Mathematics Exam and the USA Mathematical Olympiad. Almost half of the problems have full, detailed solutions in the text, and the rest have full solutions in the accompanying Solutions Manual.

HS AMC10/12/AIME

th grade and up)

This is an intermediate high school math competition class targeted for students whose math abilities are placed near or at the AIME level.  We will be focusing on Hard AMC and AIME problems.  The goal is to get them qualified for AIME and aim for JMO/AMO.

Intermediate Algebra

This class include a review of basic algebra topics, complex numbers, quadratics and conic sections, polynomials, multivariable expressions, sequences and series, identities, inequalities, exponents and logarithms, piecewise-defined functions, functional equations, and much more. Intro to Number Theory

A thorough introduction for students in grades 7-10 to topics in number theory such as primes & composites, multiples & divisors, prime factorization and its uses, base numbers, modular arithmetic, divisibility rules, linear congruence, how to develop number sense, and more.

Calculus

​Calculus covers all topics from a typical high school or first-year college calculus course, including: limits, continuity, differentiation, integration, power series, plane curves, and elementary differential equations. The text is written to challenge students at a much deeper level than a traditional high school or first-year college calculus course.

HS AIME
(9th and up)

This class is targeted for students in grades 9-12 who are preparing for advanced high school contests like the AMC 12, AIME, and the Harvard-MIT Mathematics Tournament.
